Traffic notes: busy driveway closes at UGA, bridge planned for Barrow Co

ga museum of natural history

There is a heads-up from UGA: the driveway between Cedar Street and East Campus Road south of the Natural History Museum is closed again this week. Crews are installing a new storm water line. It's expected to be closed for the rest of the month.

From the UGA Master Calendar…

The driveway between Cedar Street and E. Campus Road located to the south of the Computing Services/Natural History Museum Building will be temporarily closed due to the installation of a new storm line. The closure will begin this Saturday, August 17, 2019 and is anticipated to be completed within 4 weeks. During this time, the parking spaces adjacent to E. Campus Road will continue to be accessible and pedestrian access will be maintained around the building. The five parking spaces at the southwestern corner of the building will be inaccessible during this time. Upon completion of the installation, the driveway will be reopened and the construction fence will be moved back to its pre-closure location.

The E.R. Snell contracting firm in Snellville wins a $5.3 million contract to build a new bridge on Georgia Highway 11 over the Apalachee River at the Walton-Barrow county line. The Georgia DOT says work is expected to be completed by November of next year.

Plans for a 77-acre development off Georgia Highway 53 in Braselton are on hold until next month: the Braselton Planning Commission has tabled til September 23 a developer's proposal for a 240-unit residential complex planned for Highway 53 and Braselton Parkway.
