DALTON, GA — President Donald Trump is returning to Georgia Friday for a campaign rally in Dalton as Republicans and Democrats prepare for the upcoming midterm elections.

The rally, which will take place Friday afternoon, is part of Trump’s multistate campaign efforts to support Republican candidates ahead of Election Day on Nov. 3.

The visit marks Trump’s third trip to Georgia this year and comes as the president faces low approval ratings in the final weeks of the campaign.

Republican U.S. Senate nominee and Congressman Mike Collins is expected to join Trump at the rally. Collins says the president’s appearance will help energize Republican voters.

“If you’ve ever been to a live rally with President Trump, you can feel the energy,” Collins said.

Collins also pointed to the importance of Georgia in the upcoming elections.

“I think it just shows that the state of Georgia is still in play and everybody knows that,” Collins said.

However, Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff criticized Trump’s visit, questioning why Georgia Republicans would welcome the president to the state.

“Frankly I’m surprised Georgia Republicans want the president here,” Ossoff said.

Ossoff also criticized Trump’s record on issues affecting household expenses.

“You’re paying more today than ever before to stock your fridge, to power your home, or to fill up your truck,” Ossoff said.

Trump’s visit comes less than three weeks before Election Day, with early voting already underway across Georgia.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is also scheduled to campaign for Georgia Democrats later this month, with an event planned alongside Fulton County Democrats on Oct. 30.
