Make it eight straight years for the University of Georgia: UGA is again named as a Military Friendly Tier One Research Institution for its work with students who are military veterans.
From UGA Today…
The University of Georgia is once again named a Military Friendly Tier I Research Institution for academic year 2022-2023; a designation earned each year since 2014 according to Victory Media. Since 2017, UGA has been recognized as a Gold Award winner for placing within 20 percent of the top ranked institutions in each category and this year finished in the top 16 percent of the 665 schools earning Military Friendly. Additionally, according to Military Times, UGA made its Best For Vets list this year.
Together, these two recognitions represent our nation’s largest and most comprehensive ranking of schools for military service members, veterans, and their families. As the Director of the UGA Student Veterans Resource Center, Jon Segars says, “I am extremely proud of the work we do to support our more than 250 student veterans resulting in these awards. While our outstanding programs are recognized through these awards and modeled by other universities around the country, our personal connection with students is what sets us apart as a perineal leader in the care of veterans.”
Georgia’s commitment to veterans extends beyond our Athens campus as more than 20 percent of student veterans learn from extended campuses including online. Our veterans learn from 14 states and often from around the world when deployed. Whether student veterans are abroad or on campus, the University of Georgia is dedicated to providing excellent support to our military-affiliated students. The Student Veterans Resource Center continues to provide transition assistance beginning with orientation and offers help throughout each veteran’s time at the University and beyond.
