Work session for A-CC Commissioners

An Athens-Clarke County Mayor and Commission work session is underway at 5:30 this afternoon at City Hall.

The Athens-Clarke County Government is looking for nominees to serve on the new Athens in Motion Commission, which was created by the Athens-Clarke County Commission earlier this month. The new panel will help develop and implement a plan for a connected network of bicycle and pedestrian facilities for Athens.

Oconee County's Board of Tax Assessors meets this morning: it is a 9 o'clock session at the courthouse in Watkinsville. 

Madison County says it will be looking for state grants to help with courthouse renovation. Madison County Commissioners will apply for $300,000 from the Georgia Heritage Grant Program, trying to get money for refurbishment of the courthouse building in Danielsville. 

Jackson County is making plans for yet another interstate bridge closure: the Georgia DOT says the Jesse Cronic Bridge over I-85 will close next week and will remain closed for about six months. The DOT is replacing the bridge and says there will be a detour, taking traffic from Liberty Church Road to Braselton Parkway and Georgia Highway 53 in Jackson County. 

Barrow County Commissioners meet at 7 o'clock tonight at the Historic Courthouse in Winder.
