Larry Munson: Late, great UGA broadcaster featured in SEC film

Larry Munson, the legendy UGA play-by-play announcer, was commemorated by ESPN’s SEC Network as part of a 90-minute film “More Than Voice.”

A clip of Munson’s segment from Sunday evening’s show went viral among UGA fans, evoking heartfelt and emotional memories of the late broadcaster on social media.

Munson, who died at the age of 89 years old in 2011, called UGA games for more than 40 seasons, from 1966 until 2008.

Watch the video below to see a clip of Munson from the movie, along with some of his most famous calls. Munson is legendary for his description of Lindsay Scott’s touchdown catch to beat Florida during Georgia’s 1980 national championship season. He also is known for “Look at sugar falling from the sky” after the Bulldogs beat Auburn to clinch a spot in the Sugar Bowl in 1982, along with “Hunker down” to the defense in the same game.
