Seven students, including one from Clarke Central High School and another from Westminster Christian Academy, receive appointments to US service academies after they were nominated by 10th District Congressman Jody Hice. Jamsen Mendoza from Clarke Central and Madison Zinn from Westminster will attend the US Air Force Academy in Colorado.
From US Rep Jody Hice…
U.S. Congressman Jody Hice (GA-10) today announced the appointments of seven Georgia students whom he nominated to the United States Service Academies for the Class of 2024.
"Congratulations to Meredith Buchanan, Maggie Curran, Luke LeFort, Jamsen Mendoza, Michael Rogers, and Madison Zinn," said Congressman Hice. "These students are among the best that our nation has to offer and represent the next generation of military leaders. On behalf Georgia's 10th Congressional District, I proudly salute these hardworking students who have demonstrated leadership and a commitment to serving their community and country."
Each year, Hice is privileged to nominate eligible students for consideration for appointment to the United States Military, Naval, Merchant Marine, and Air Force academies. His nominations are based on the recommendation of his Service Academy Selection Board, who conducted rigorous interviews with each candidate. Upon receiving a nomination, applicants competed for an offer of appointment to their respective service academies. Academy appointments entitle students to the equivalent of full undergraduate scholarships, and upon graduation, they become commissioned officers in the United States Armed Forces.
