ATLANTA — Kroger is expanding its discount program for customers who receive government assistance, offering savings on fresh fruits and vegetables as part of its Verified Savings Program.
The grocery chain says customers who use SNAP, WIC, or Medicaid are eligible to receive 20 percent off fruits and vegetables through the program. The initiative is aimed at expanding access to healthy foods and reducing barriers to food security.
In addition to the produce discount, participants also receive 50 percent off a Kroger Plus membership, which includes benefits such as free delivery on orders of $35 or more and additional fuel points.
Kroger says eligible customers can sign up online using SheerID, a verification provider that helps confirm eligibility for the program.
Once enrolled, the discounts are applied through the customer’s Kroger digital account.
