Oconee Co Elections chief: data breach will not impact upcoming elections

Oconee County Election Supervisor Rebecca Anglin says a data breach at the Oconee County Elections office will not impact next month’s candidate qualifying or primary elections that will be held in May. A vendor used by Oconee and 119 other counties across the state says the data breach occurred last month.

From the Oconee Co government website…

The Oconee County Board of Elections has been notified by Easy Vote, a vendor involved with absentee and advance voting, that a data breach has taken place.

Easy Vote has secured the site and moved all files, and all voters that were affected are being reviewed.

Easy Vote has informed the county that the affected data included information that is currently public record with the exception of date of birth.

The breach occurred from an export of the daily voter file on January 13, 2022.

No social security numbers or driver’s license numbers were affected.

Easy Vote also serves over 120 of the 159 counties in Georgia, including Oconee County, which it has served since 2015 without prior incident.

Questions regarding this incident should be directed to Easy Vote CFO Charles Davis at cdavis@easyvotesolutions.com.

Oconee County Government is committed to ensuring that this incident is fully investigated in order to prevent future issues.
