According to the Orange Police Department, the 22-year-old motorist lost control shortly before midnight PT, KABC reported. Police said the vehicle smashed through a brick wall, split a tree in half and went airborne in the neighborhood before crashing approximately 20 feet down an embankment, according to the television station.

Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash, police said. The man was the only person in the vehicle. Police did not give details about what medical emergency prompted the crash.

Video from the scene showed the heavily damaged vehicle coming to a stop after crashing into the garage of one of the residents on East Cadbury Drive in Orange, KTLA reported.

Residents awakened by the loud crash went outside to discover what one woman called a “war zone,” according to the television station.

A woman named Joan, who did not wish to reveal her last name, lived in the residence that had the most damage, KTLA reported.

“I just heard a big bang and, you know, my house kind of shook,” she told the television station.

The woman added that she found the driver dazed but not badly hurt.

The man’s condition was unknown, KTLA reported.
